Soccer

In this blog post, I am just going to write about the basics and the rules of soccer. The object of soccer is for a player to get the ball into the other team’s goal by using any part of their body except the player’s hands and arms. Unless you are the goalie of the team, you are not allowed to touch the ball with your hands.

During the game there is a referee, who is in charge of the soccer game. The referee’s main objective should be the safety of the players. It is the referee’s responsibility to ensure that the game remains fun and fair for everyone. This includes players, spectators and the officials. Along with the referee there are two linesmen, who may assist the referee in controlling the game. The linemen’s job is to signal to the referee when the ball is out of bounds, indicating a corner kick, a goal kick, offsides, fouls, or which team is entitled to the throw-in. Overall, the referee on the field makes the official and final decisions in the game. The layout of a soccer field will vary from league to league, usually because of the age of the players. Not only does the size of the soccer field vary, but so does the size of the soccer ball. A soccer ball regulation size is normally a No. 5 ball, but youth leagues may use different sizes depending on the age of the children. While on the soccer field, there must be no more than eleven players on the field for either team. Each player on the soccer field must were the same colored jerseys or shirts, and are required to wear shin guards  by all players. The duration of the game maybe different depending on the age of the children, and your league will determine whether quarters or halves are played and how long each will be.
